A support tool in the selection of environmental strategies in livestock operations
Batfarm software simulates the effect of BAT (Best Available Techniques) in particular farms, allowing the comparison of different BAT scenarios to help in the selection of the most appropiate environmental strategies in each case. Batfarm software is a free use tool that can be downloaded in this webpage and it is available in Spanish, French, English and Portuguese.
The software considers swine, laying hens, broilers and dairy cattle farms and the entire animal production process: housing, grazing and manure management (storage, treatment and landspreading).
This manual describes the main functions of the Batfarm software, how to install it and manage it. We recommend reading it before first software use. Additional documentation is available in the tool.
This work has been co-financed by Batfarm Interreg-Atlantic Area Project (2009-1/071) entitled “Evaluation of best available techniques to decrease air and water pollution in animal farms”. More information about the Batfarm project can be found at http://www.batfarm.eu/
Batfarm software is continually being updated with new data and improved features. We welcome feedback from users to help us improve this software. Please contact to your nearby Batfarm Software Manager.
